چکیده

AbsfrucfA novel algorithm designed to compute efficiently and accurately the high-frequency electromagnetic scattering from open-ended waveguide cavities is presented. The cavity is converted into a stepped-waveguide model so that the field spectra are propagated, forward and backward, along each waveguide section. As boundary conditions for perfect electric conductors are applied via image theory, they are of local nature and take into account only the first-order interactions between each pair of waveguide sections. Accordingly, additional forward-backward iterations must be performed if multiple interactions are to be taken into account. Finally, the radar cross section due to the interior irradiation is calculated by a Kirchhoff-based aperture integral. Good agreement with Method of Moments and Hybrid Modal solutions is found, as well as with experimental data, for two-dimensional and three-dimensional cavities with rectangular cross section.

A Novel Method for RCS Reduction of a Complex Shaped Aircraft Using Partial RAM Coating

In this paper, a novel method of partial coating to reduce the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of a complex shaped perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) aircraft, of electrically large size, is proposed. The physical optics (PO) method is used to identify the hot spots of the PEC aircraft. An empirical procedure is then proposed to coat partial contiguous areas with Radar Absorbent Material (RAM). ...

Adaptive Multiscale Moment Method (AMMM) for Analysis of Scattering from Perfectly Conducting Plates

Adaptive multiscale moment method (AMMM) is presented for the analysis of scattering from a thin perfectly conducting plate. This algorithm employs the conventional moment method and a special matrix transformation, which is derived from the tensor products of the two one-dimensional (1-D) multiscale triangular basis functions that are used for expansion and testing functions in the conventiona...

A Pseudospectral Method for Time-Domain Computation of Electromagnetic Scattering by Bodies of Revolution

We present a multi-domain pseudospectral method for the accurate and efficient time-domain computation of scattering by body-of-revolution (BOR) perfectly electrically conducting objects. In the BOR formulation of the Maxwell equations the azimuthal dependence of the fields is accounted for analytically through a Fourier series. The numerical scheme in the (r, z)-plane is developed in general c...

Non-iterative electromagnetic imaging of perfectly conducting screens from limited range far-field data

We propose a non-iterative multi-frequency algorithm for the imaging of arbitrarily shaped perfectly conducting screens from limited range far-field data. Based on the factorization of the Multi-Static Response (MSR) matrix collected in the far-field at multiple frequencies in Transverse Magnetic (TM) mode, the imaging problem can be solved through the simple analysis of corresponding eigenvect...
